In its role as head of consortium, Joseph Paris has been awarded the contract to design and build a new single-leaf swing bridge in Saint-Malo (35), replacing the existing structure dating from the 1950s.
The original bridge was hit by a number of irreparable issues and regularly closed for maintenance. The Brittany region voted to replace it completely and opted for a 44.5m-long, 12.8m-wide swing bridge (tonnage: 480t, ballast included). This solution increases the bridge’s clearance, making it easier for vessels to manoeuvre.
The Joseph Paris teams will also install a temporary mobile footbridge for the duration of the work (seven months). Delivery is scheduled for May 2021.
